Description:

The class will be a hands on making your own pistol or rifle ammunition.

The advantages of making your own ammo are many, including consistently more accurate and less expensive ammo that is matched properly to your firearm. Never running out of ammo.  Having a great new hobby that makes you a better marksman. More time at the range enjoying your favorite sport for less money.

You will learn:

Basic Safety in handloading and a discussion about pressure.

How to prepare your cases including:

  • depriming
  • cleaning
  • sizing
  • check length and trimming as needed
  • chamfer and deburr
  • installing the primer

 How to set up and use the reloading press:

  • using the resizing die
  • bullet seating and or crimp die
  • using a bullet puller
  • priming a case with the press
  • determining the right powder charge and right bullet
  • measure and add powder
  • setting the proper over all cartridge length
  • Crimping the case

 Different powders and the burn rates and pressure.

The difference in various primers and how to decide which primer, which brass, which powder is best for your load.

 Each student will prep cases, prime them, charge them with powder, seat the bullet, and measure proper length.

 We will discuss the different types of reloading presses, hand primers, powder scales, powder measures, de-burring tools, bullet pullers etc.

Graduates will have a working knowledge of how to make ammo for your rifle or pistol at the end of the class.

Each student will receive a new copy of a modern reloading manual.  (a $35 value). This will be your text book and primary home reference book to safe and effective reloading.
